Lutheran Health Physicians adds five new providers

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (Aug. 30, 2017) – Lutheran Health Physicians has recently welcomed five new providers to its growing list of physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Esosa Odigie-Okon, MD, joined Lutheran Health Physicians after serving as a non-invasive cardiologist at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin. As a non-invasive cardiologist, Dr. Odigie-Okon examines patients and orders and performs tests to prevent, diagnose and treat heart conditions.

Dr. Odigie-Okon's research has been published in several medical journals covering topics in hypertension, transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac injuries and cardiac magnetic resonance. She was also the medical director of cardiac MRI/CT, nuclear imaging and cardio testing at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.

Dr. Odigie-Okon is board certified in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, adult comprehensive echocardiography, cardiovascular computed tomography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and internal medicine.

She is a member of the American College of Cardiology, Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, the American Society of Echocardiography and the American Society for Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Odigie-Okon is based at 7916 W. Jefferson Blvd., on the Lutheran Hospital campus.

Charles Copeland, PA-C, joined Lutheran Health Physicians after working for several years as a physician assistant in northern Indiana. As a physician assistant specializing in cardiology, Copeland examines patients and orders tests to prevent, diagnose and treat heart conditions.

Copeland received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Purdue University and his master’s in physician assistant studies from the University of Nebraska, in Omaha. He has experience working in urgent care clinics treating patients with bronchial, viral and bacterial illnesses. He also has experience in internal medicine management of chronic health conditions including hypertension, diabetes and other persistent heath conditions. Copeland was in the Indiana Army National Guard and the U.S. Army including deployments to Iraq and Kuwait.

Copeland is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants.

He is based at 7916 W. Jefferson Blvd., on the Lutheran Hospital campus.

Darcy Fritz, FNP, is a nurse practitioner who treats patients with digestive disorders that can have a drastic effect on a patient's quality of life. She diagnoses and treats patients suffering from conditions including liver disorders, irritable bowel syndrome and acid reflux.

Fritz previously served as a family nurse practitioner in an urgent care clinic treating patients with minor accidents, illnesses and sports injuries, and provided follow-up care. She also served for nine years as an ER nurse in Illinois and Georgia.

In 2004, Fritz received her bachelor's degree in biology and premedicine from DePaul University in Chicago. While at DePaul University, she also received her Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2008 and a family nurse practitioner certificate in 2011.

Fritz is board certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

She is based in Medical Office Building One, 7900 W. Jefferson Blvd., Suite 201, on the Lutheran Hospital campus.

Kirsten Hansen, NP, joined Lutheran Health Physicians after working as a registered nurse in the cardiovascular intensive care unit at Lutheran Hospital. As a nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology, Hansen examines, diagnoses and treats patients with heart disorders that can be managed by medication and lifestyle changes. Hansen has clinical experience working with adults and children.

Hansen graduated from the University of Saint Francis for both her bachelor's degree in nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing degree and family nurse practitioner certificate.

Hansen is a member of the Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana.

She is based in Warsaw at 2235 Dubois Drive, Suite B, on the Kosciusko Community Hospital campus.

Kristin Sloan, NP, is a cardiologist nurse practitioner who examines patients and orders tests to prevent, diagnose and treat heart conditions, including those that can be managed with medications and lifestyle changes.

Sloan received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University, Indianapolis, in nursing and her master's degree in nursing, family nurse practitioner from IPFW. She has several years of experience working as a registered nurse for Dupont and Lutheran hospitals and Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She worked in the medical-surgical intensive care unit with emphasis on respiratory, neurological, trauma and cardiovascular-surgical telemetry units.

Sloan is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

She is based at 7916 W. Jefferson Blvd., on the Lutheran Hospital campus.
