Lutheran Comprehensive Breast Center to host “New Directions in Breast Cancer” seminar Oct. 10
Survivors to be celebrated at free public event
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Sept. 20, 2019) – Anyone who has been impacted by cancer understands the desire many have to absorb as much information as possible from experts in the field. To make that pursuit of knowledge easier, the Lutheran Compressive Breast Center is assembling a distinguished group of physicians to discuss the latest updates in breast cancer care.
“New Directions in Breast Cancer,” an annual seminar hosted by Lutheran, will take place at The Landmark Conference and Reception Centre, 6222 Ellison Road, on Oct. 10 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This opportunity is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. All interested participants are encouraged to register online at 2019LHNewDirectionsBC.eventbrite.com.
A special emphasis on survivors and their stories will be featured at this year’s event. More than 100 survivors and their guests are expected to be in attendance. Between 5:30 and 6, survivors will be able to pick up a survivor sash and gift donated by Vera Bradley. A photo booth with props and a pink-themed “candy bar” will also be available during this time.
This year’s keynote speaker is Rich C. Zellers, MD, who serves as a professor and chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Indiana University. Dr. Zellers will be speaking on “Breast Cancer 101: Post Mastectomy Radiation & Partial Breast Irradiation.”
Lutheran Health Physicians breast surgical oncologist Rachel Hayes, MD, will kick off the symposium, which will also include a survivor testimony from Tina Conrad.
